Medical Qi Gong Starts This Week

Medical Qi Gong is based on the principle that there are many lines of energy or "chi" that circulate through the body. When the flow of chi becomes imbalanced or blocked, it can lead to disease.

Qi Gong uses a combination of conscious breathing, powerful visualizations and gentle movement to stimulate our own ability to balance and heal ourselves, or prevent disease in the first place.

Samer Hassan is an extraordinary teacher who brings deep wisdom of life and thorough knowledge of Medical Qi Gong to his classes. After a lifetime of study and practice, Samer is a Master Teacher of Medical Qi Gong, Tai Chi and Kung Fu.

This class is suitable for all levels in both Wellness Yoga and Therapeutic.

Prenatal News
General Guidelines on Yoga & Pregnancy

In previous issues of Metta News we've offered suggestions on yoga postures to do and not do. Here are some general guidelines that Moms may find helpful.

Avoid postures that put pressure directly on the belly. This is mainly a concern after the 3rd trimester when putting pressure on the belly makes it hard to breath. This same general principle applies to postures that bring the legs and belly over the head, for example plow pose, or inverted postures such as headstand.

Avoid postures laying on the back for extended periods. Back laying postures can lead to a restriction in circulation as the weight of the fetus presses down on the abdominal aorta and inferior vena cavaca. Modify back laying postures such as savasana to side laying. It is generally best to lay on your left side as this keeps the baby's weight off your liver, which may cause discomfort in later stages of pregnancy.
